In 1935 there was opened childish sanatorium specialized in the treatment of paralysis (the first institution of its kind in Europe). Janské Lázně Spa is situated in the area of the National Park of the Krkonoše Mountains, 670 metres above sea level on the foothill of the Černá hora (Black Mountain).
